Pilot Scheme on Youth Outdoor Adventure Training Activities

Background

The Government is keen on its drive for the diversified development of young people, and support for the full development of their potential through various activities. While efforts have been made to actively advocate life planning, employment and entrepreneurship support, along with promotion of internship and exchanges outside Hong Kong, it is equally important to foster a healthy environment nourishing their growth. In response to the initiative proposed in the 2020 Policy Address, the Youth Development Commission (YDC) has rolled out a new funding scheme under the Youth Development Fund to sponsor eligible non-governmental organisations to collaborate in a wider provision of local outdoor adventure training for young people combining quality and scale in a structured manner. Such training aims to cultivate in them positive values and mentality. For a start, the YDC has partnered up with the Hong Kong Award for Young People (AYP) to launch on a trial basis the Pilot Scheme on Youth Outdoor Adventure Training Activities.

The funding scheme aims to improve young people’s physical and mental well-being; foster positive thinking, sense of collectivism and resilience; and emphasise the importance of cultivating positive values and mentality of young people during their growth and development.
