Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland

Overview

The Government collaborates with cultural, nature conservation and scientific research institutions in the Mainland to organise the "Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland". Through the diversified, unique and in-depth thematic internship opportunities, the Programmes will help Hong Kong youths gain a deeper understanding of our country’s development and acquire knowledge of relevant disciplines and professional fields.



Key Features

Five thematic internship programmes in collaboration with relevant Mainland institutions including:

  • “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internship Programme at Palace Museum”, co-organised with the Palace Museum in Beijing;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan”, co-organised with the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Chinese Academy of Sciences” , co-organised with the Chinese Academy of Sciences;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Dunhuang” , co-organised with the Dunhuang Academy; and
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Shandong on Marine Sciences” , co-organised with the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology.

The internship positions cover cultural heritage preservation, scientific research and technology and ecological conservation. Other than internship, the participants will also take part in field trips and other cultural exchange activities, thereby deepening their understanding of the local culture and industry development.

Under the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internship Programme at Palace Museum", Hong Kong’s participants will also work together with young people from Guangdong and Macao at the Palace Museum in Beijing to facilitate youth exchanges among the three places.

Eligibility

Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card holder aged between 18 and 30;
Full-time student from a local post-secondary or tertiary institution (including students of sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes).

Disciplines Priority will be given to applicants in related disciplines such as translation, history, art, education, literature, media, architecture, design, business administration, science, and social sciences.

(2) Youth Internship Programme at Wolong National Nature Reserve, Sichuan

    • Co-organisers: Wolong National Nature Reserve Administration in Sichuan, China Conservation and Research Centre for Giant Pandas, Guangdong Youth Federation, Hong Kong Ocean Park

Disciplines Priority will be given to applicants in related disciplines such as ecological conservation, nature and environment, sustainable development, art, new media, geography, and tourism.

(3) Youth Internship Programme at Chinese Academy of Sciences

Internship period From 16 July to 26 August 2023 (6 weeks)
Disciplines Priority will be given to applicants in related disciplines such as engineering, biological sciences, mathematics, quantitative finance, and physics.
