HYAB Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland 2026

Overview

The Government collaborates with cultural, nature conservation, scientific research institutions and a media organisation in the Mainland to organise the "HYAB Thematic Youth Internship Programmes to the Mainland". Through the diverse, unique and in-depth thematic internship opportunities, the Programmes will help Hong Kong youth gain a deeper understanding of our country’s development and acquire knowledge of relevant disciplines and professional fields.

Key Features

Seven thematic internship programmes in collaboration with relevant Mainland institutions include:

  • “Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internship Programme at Palace Museum”, co-organised with the Palace Museum in Beijing;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Wolong Region of Giant Panda National Park”, co-organised with the Sichuan Provincial Administration of the Giant Panda National Park;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Chinese Academy of Sciences”, co-organised with the Chinese Academy of Sciences;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Dunhuang”, co-organised with the Dunhuang Academy;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Shandong on Marine Sciences”, co-organised with the Laoshan National Laboratory at Qingdao;
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Wuyishan on Biodiversity Conservation”, co-organised with the Wuyishan National Park Administration; and
  • “Youth Internship Programme at Hunan on Media Industry”, co-organised with Hunan Satellite TV.

The internship positions cover cultural heritage preservation, scientific research and technology, ecology and environmental conservation, and media. Apart from the internship, participants will also take part in field trips and other cultural exchange activities, enabling them to experience the achievements of the country in various fields.

Eligibility

  • Aged between 18 and 30; and
  • (i) a full time post-secondary student (including sub-degree, undergraduate, or postgraduate) holding a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card; or
    (ii) a local full-time post-secondary student (including sub-degree, undergraduate, or postgraduate) holding a Hong Kong Identity Card.

(1) Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internship Programme at Palace Museum

(2) Youth Internship Programme at Wolong Region of Giant Panda National Park

(4) Youth Internship Programme at Dunhuang

Disciplines Priority will be given to applicants in related disciplines such as Chinese, history, art, humanities and social sciences, tourism and hospitality, etc., with strong passions and basic knowledge towards Dunhuang culture.
