HYAB Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas 2026

Overview

The Government is committed to providing quality internship opportunities on the Chinese Mainland and overseas to broaden the horizons of Hong Kong young people. The Government forged partnership with locally-based large corporates to first launch the HYAB Scheme on Corporate Summer Internship on the Mainland and Overseas (the Scheme) in 2018 for young people to intern at the Chinese Mainland and overseas operations of these corporates.

In the 2025 Policy Address, the Chief Executive emphasised that the Government would sustain its efforts in promoting youth development on all fronts. This includes continuing to implement various exchange and internship programmes on the Chinese Mainland and overseas to help young people broaden international horizons and cultivate a holistic outlook. The Scheme is one of the key measures in taking forward this initiative.

The number of companies participating in the new round of the Scheme has increased to 29. The internship placements cover multiple industries, such as financial services, innovation and technology, logistics, property development, construction, retail, hospitality, entertainment, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and utilities. Participating companies will administer and fund their own internship projects, whereas the Government will arrange publicity for the Scheme and participating companies, as well as invite the interns to join the “Youth Link” under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau to enrich their learning experience and broaden their exposure. Through the concerted efforts of the Government and corporates, we hope to groom a cohort of young talent with a good understanding of the country's development and a global vision. The Scheme provides young people with exposure to the work culture in large corporates in different parts of the world and an opportunity to establish interpersonal networks outside Hong Kong, which will benefit their future career development.
